Job Overview
The Housing Resource Specialist, under the general direction of the Program Director, is responsible for:

• Conducting housing assessments to evaluate client needs and goals.
• Providing resource and referral support for community-based programs.
• Managing and monitoring a rapid re-housing/transition-in-place program for families.
• Maintaining a comprehensive database of community resources accessible to staff and clients.
• Performing direct client services, including referrals, follow-ups, and housing advocacy.
• Engaging in both office-based and field activities to support participants in achieving housing stability and community integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed housing assessments to identify client needs, preferences, and eligibility for programs.
• Create and maintain a robust database of community resources, including housing opportunities, support services, and financial assistance programs.
• Facilitate client access to community resources and provide referrals for housing, employment, mental health, and other critical services.
• Oversee the rapid re-housing/transition-in-place program by coordinating with landlords, processing housing applications, and monitoring client progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support client self-sufficiency, community integration, and long-term housing stability.
• Document client interactions, program activities, and housing outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate in community events, outreach activities, and resource fairs to strengthen partnerships and expand the network of housing resources.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; higher education in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in housing services, case management, or community outreach.
  • Knowledge of DC-specific housing programs, resources, and community services is strongly preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse environments.
• Other:
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for field activities.
