About The Role
In this position, you will be responsible for both preventative and corrective tasks. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include performing routine maintenance, identifying issues, and executing repair work on a variety of machines. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and electrical components, as you will be working on diverse equipment from fabrication machines to vehicles. Key tasks include:
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct scheduled tasks such as fluid and filter replacements, belt and hose changes, clutch adjustments, hydraulic inspections, and comprehensive cleaning and lubrication procedures. Regular routine maintenance is essential to prevent unexpected machine downtime and extend equipment life.
- Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair issues across various systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving electrical problems, ensuring that wiring and motor controls function safely and efficiently. Additionally, you will address mechanical issues that arise, making sure that each machine operates at peak performance.
- Electrical Systems: A significant portion of the role involves working with electrical systems. You will inspect, maintain, and repair electrical components, including 480V wiring and motor controls. Your expertise in electrical systems will ensure that all machines meet safety and operational standards.
- Machinery and Equipment: Work hands-on with a range of machines and equipment. Your experience in repair and maintenance will be crucial when dealing with welding machines, fabrication tools, and overhead cranes. You will also be tasked with installing new equipment and making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
- Safety and Documentation: Maintain detailed maintenance logs, follow strict safety protocols, and contribute to our continuous improvement initiatives. Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be vital in keeping our operations running smoothly.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years in a maintenance mechanic role, with demonstrable hands-on experience in routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and machinery.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing both mechanical and electrical issues. You should be comfortable working with hydraulic systems and operating overhead cranes (at least 1 year of experience is required).
- Physical Capability: This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work in a shop/warehouse environment.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional vocational training or an apprenticeship in a related field is a plus.
