Job Overview: The Dispatcher/Customer Service Representative in the electrical services industry is responsible for coordinating the dispatch of electricians to various job sites, managing customer inquiries, and ensuring timely service. The role involves handling service requests, optimizing scheduling, and maintaining open communication between electricians, customers, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatching & Scheduling:
- Schedule and dispatch electricians to residential, commercial, and industrial locations based on customer needs, service requests, and technician availability.
- Manage the daily work orders and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate emergencies, priority jobs, or last-minute changes.
- Monitor and track the progress of electrical service jobs to ensure timely completion.
- Customer Support:
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers calling in with electrical issues, service requests, or inquiries.
- Provide information on the status of service calls, expected arrival times, and availability of electricians.
- Address customer complaints and concerns, escalating to supervisors or technical teams when needed.
- Work Order Management:
- Create, update, and close work orders in the system, ensuring all relevant information (issue details, technician notes, job completion, etc.) is accurately recorded.
- Track and manage service contracts and ongoing projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Communication & Coordination:
- Maintain communication with electricians throughout the day to ensure they have the necessary tools, materials, and information to complete jobs.
- Relay any changes or important updates from customers to the technicians in the field.
- Collaborate with internal departments (sales, billing, and management) to ensure smooth operations.
- Emergency Dispatch:
- Respond to emergency electrical issues and coordinate the immediate dispatch of available electricians to critical jobs.
- Prioritize emergency calls based on safety concerns and customer urgency.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; additional education in electrical services, customer service, or logistics is an advantage.
- Experience in dispatching, customer service, or scheduling, ideally in the electrical or construction industry.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and terminology is a plus.
- Proficiency with dispatching software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to handle high call volumes and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
