Job Title:  Accounting Supervisor

Department:  Finance

Reports to: Director of Finance

Category:  Regular, full-time, hybrid, exempt


Tacoma-Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is looking for an Accounting Supervisor to bring both skill and passion to our Finance Department. In this vital role, you’ll work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure smooth, accurate financial operations that support our mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.


Finance Responsibilities 
•    Oversees team of 3-4 accountants
o              Answer questions, review work and assist in assignments as needed 
•    Provide timely and accurate payroll preparation, reporting and reconciliation, including benefit programs; review and reconcile quarterly payroll tax returns and annual W-2’s
•    Support the month-end close and timely and accurate preparation of financial statements 
•    Support in comparison of actual to budgeted results and analysis 
•    Provide financial reporting and analysis to the Director of Finance
•    Prepare monthly reviews of budget status for department directors
•    Occasionally present financial results to board in Director of Finance’s absence 
•    Backup for treasury functions as needed
•    Prepare ad hoc analyses and/or miscellaneous financial reports as needed
•    With support from the Director of Finance and the leadership team, prepare the annual budget and related financial forecasts and updates Support the annual audit of the organization’s financial statements, including single audit
•    Prepare annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for the annual report
•    Assist in the preparation, review and timely filing of the organization’s annual Form 990 tax return
•    Prepare required Washington State Housing Finance Commission reports (WBARS)
•    Maintain appropriate internal controls over financial transactions and reporting
•    Assist Finance Director, along with finance team in the annual external audit process
•    Analyze current processes, recommend and implement improvements
•    Support the Director of Finance in providing computer applications necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate internal accounting controls
•    Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to provide timely, accurate information and meet deadlines
•    Ability to work individually and as a member of a team
•    Ability to positively interact across all levels of the organization and with vendors and customers from diverse backgrounds
•    Ability to work regular office hours, 9am – 5pm, with flexibility regarding peak-time work requirements
•    Ability to pass a background check and credit check


Education and Experience
•    BS/BA in Accounting is required
•    Active CPA license desired
•    Payroll experience required
•    Non-profit experience preferred 
•    Grant accounting and billing preferred
•    Prior experience with Federal, State and local grant administration and accounting desired
•    Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger and accounting concepts
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and QuickBooks accounting software
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role
•    Not-for-profit and/or financial services experience a plus
•    Software implementation experience a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for long periods while operating a computer to create documents, conducting research, sending and receiving e-mail and participating in meetings; communicating on a telephone and in person; reading and writing; applying logic and focusing attention in the presence of distractions. Occasional requirements are to move about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Salary : $97,000 - $120,000
