The Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking a Technician Shipping & Warehouse to join our dedicated team at our Cambridge City, IN site.
The Pay Range: $20 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions and could exceed the advertised salary range, however, please note that the upper end of the range is not guaranteed to be offered.
The Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shifts) with Saturday rotations. Shifts starting at either 7am or 8am.

Core Responsibilities:
This role requires considerable physical exertion, including frequent climbing, crouching, crawling, and lifting items up to 75 pounds. Employees will regularly operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and UTVs (side-by-sides) for deliveries, with exposure to outdoor temperatures and varying weather conditions. The work environment involves regular use of chemicals, protective measures, and heavy machinery, with potential occupational hazards requiring special precautions. Employees may also experience exposure to strong odors, loud noise levels, and extreme temperatures. Core Responsibilities:
- Fills requested items.
- Compiles data from various sources and enters information into computer to maintain records.
- Prepares orders for UPS, FedEx, or truck deliveries; this does not include live animals.
- Maintains back-order file and releases back orders as stock becomes available.
- Maintains shipping and receiving files.
- Preforms regular cycle counts and yearly physical inventories.
- Compiles stock control records and information to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
- Prepares documents for purchasing and requisitions new or additional stock items.
- Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.
- Prepares stock to be irradiated or ETO sterilized.
- Delivering requisitioned items to areas, using aseptic procedures if required.
- Reads various documents to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to instructions.
- Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerators and/or freezer.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Ensure routine servicing of forklifts, pallet jacks and delivery vehicles.
- Follows procedures for inspection, receipt and verification of containerized rodents and products according to the standard operating procedures for the loading and shipment of animals.
- Delivers animals from barriers to the lab by following established procedures.
- Loads designated trucks as per loading instructions.
- Keeps records and documents of outgoing shipments.
- Completes special order instructions.
- Prepares and attaches written instructions for unpacking, storage, contents, health reports and receipt.
- Unloads and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items and records shortages from common carriers.
- Use of hand trucks, carts or racks to move shipments.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least six months of work experience in a warehouse, shipping, or related field.
- Experience with organization and inventory management.
- Forklift experience is a plus; must obtain Forklift Operator’s permit within six months.
- Experience handling hazardous waste is a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook required.
- Ability to create and manage Excel spreadsheets and work with data.
- Strong written communication skills for routine correspondence.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable through Taconic’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision while maintaining workflow efficiency.
