JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Registered Nurse provides long-term and rehabilitation care to residents providing routine daily nursing care according to the resident’s care plan. An RN works as a team member under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor and Director of Nursing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with RN Supervisor to ensure the best possible functions of the assigned unit
- Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
- Prepares and administers, and records prescribed medications
- Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
- Assesses the patient’s ability to do routine daily tasks.
- Recognizes and manages geriatric syndromes common to older adults, including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, hematological, musculoskeletal, endocrine, neurological, psychiatric/psychosocial, integumentary, sensory, and pain problems.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during the examination and treatment of patients
- Communicate with family members regarding patient
- Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format, and on the appropriate forms.
- Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York requires
- Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
- Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
- Strong customer service skills and compassion
