Position Overview: Commissioning Agent (Cx Agent)
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Agent to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring that large-scale technical infrastructure projects—especially data centers—are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
The Cx Agent will own the project lifecycle from design through commissioning and turnover, serving as a critical liaison between stakeholders and ensuring alignment with Owner goals.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight & Execution
Serve as the day-to-day liaison for the Owner on project scope, budget, and schedule.
Provide best practice insight to optimize design, execution, and commissioning strategy.
Ensure deliverables and site execution meet the Owner’s standards and expectations.
Support executive-level briefings and Owner decision-making.
Validate Owner’s technical/business requirements across all design phases.
Ensure constructability and code compliance in coordination with design teams.
Provide input on materials, prefabrication, systems selection, and cost-saving opportunities.
Construction Monitoring
Lead weekly construction progress meetings and cross-team field coordination.
Identify and resolve risks related to schedule, quality, or scope.
Monitor GC compliance with safety standards and promote field accountability.
Schedule & Cost Coordination
Support implementation of scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6).
Assist with field-level budget tracking and reporting to centralized controls teams.
Review and advise on contractor claims or proposed schedule adjustments.
Vendor & Procurement Oversight
Support bid leveling and ensure contracts align with Owner expectations.
Participate in vendor/partner selection including commissioning agents and testing providers.
Review proposals and make award recommendations.
Reporting & Communication
Maintain active logs: Action Items, Procurement Status, and Milestone Tracking.
Deliver bi-weekly status reports outlining risks, milestones, procurement updates, and key decisions.
Monitor and support timely RFI and submittal workflows.
Commissioning & Turnover
Coordinate commissioning activities and ensure resolution of punch list items.
Engage Owner’s operations teams during project milestones to ensure smooth handoff.
AHJ & Utility Coordination
Support utility connections and permitting processes with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
Troubleshoot jurisdictional or utility-related project delays.
Qualifications
7 years in construction management, commissioning, or related roles (mission-critical experience preferred).
Strong understanding of design, procurement, and field execution workflows.
Proven success managing complex projects as an Owner’s Representative.
Proficiency with project management and scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred).
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience with AHJ permitting, safety auditing, and budget reconciliation is a plus.
