Job Description:
Tahoma Hills is seeking a Program Director located in Shoreline, WA. The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of developmental disabilities, emphasizing the ability to see beyond limitations and recognize the capabilities of program participants. Collaborating with the Executive Director and administrative staff, they will contribute to scheduling, activity coordination, and program administration. Responsibilities include but not limited to, assessing participant needs, facilitating "person-centered planning," and overseeing Individual Service Plans. Communication with family members and guardians is a key aspect. The role involves programmatic details, participation in delivery, and collaboration on planning. The candidate should be skilled in report writing, staff supervision, and fostering enthusiasm among staff and participants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; must be able to read and write professional documents/reports with comprehension.
- Relevant and verifiable employment in field, specific to developmental disabilities
- Recent Supervisory experience of ten (10) or more employees/volunteers; experience in staff evaluation processes
- Demonstrate reliability, flexibility and maturity, ability to work under pressure, good time management skills; integrity, impartiality, and ability to maintain confidentiality essential.
- Ability to give and professionally take direction; work cooperatively with a variety of Individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Must have reliable and safe transportation. Must have a valid driver's license to transport clients to appointments, community activities, and other scheduled outings as required or as needed. Must be available to respond to and provide assistance at a site in the event a staff member needs assistance with a participant during a behavior event or any other important matter that may arise. This includes the ability to drive to locations on short notice as needed to ensure immediate support and intervention.
- Supervises and supports our team within each site, monitor and assess the quality of service our staff are providing the participants, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed. This includes; ongoing trainings.
- Keeps Executive Director regularly informed of participant needs/concerns; serves as an advocate for all individuals residing with Tahoma Hills.
- Assists residential staff in providing participants an effecient weekly/monthly schedule, training in meal/menu planning, shopping money management, recreational pursuits, accessing the community, decision making and individual empowerment, mobility/transit training, etc.
- Schedules participants mental health Appointments when needed or directed; arranges transportation for all appointments; attends appointments as requested/required. Responsible for ensuring timely follow up documentation related to these appointments, including necessary updates, tracking appointment outcomes, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with program requirements. Keeps Healthcare Coordinator informed.
- Will ensure that the health and safety needs of all program participants are met and consistently maintained.
- Ensures that all therapy/medical/treatment/consultant programs are instituted, followed through with/performed on scheduled basis and that all appropriate documentation/sign-off is completed.
- Schedule regular communication(s) with vocational/day program staff, consultants, guardians and families as requested.
- Facilitates and schedules house staff meetings.
- Participates in interview/hiring/termination process(es) as needed or directed.
- Provides and discusses, with staff, performance appraisals, schedules quarterly meeting with each staff member.
- Provides input into staff performance appraisals when requested.
- Provides extra shift coverage as necessary; follows and abides by DSP job description when working shift(s).
- Writes and implements PBSP; ensures staff are trained and that all appropriate documentation/sign off is completed. This includes training in de-escalation techniques to try, emergency response protocols, and maintaining safety for both clients and staff.
- Assists in scheduling training classes for staff and procuring necessary resources to support ongoing staff development, ensuring that all training requirments are met in a timely manner.
- Participates in audits and inspections of sites, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Supervises staff assigned to site; keeps Executive Director regularly informed of staffing issues and /or concerns.
- Attends trainings/in services/classes as directed.
- Provides administrative coverage in the absence of Executive Director or as assigned
- Accepts/assumes other duties as directed or assigned.

- Potential from all physical positions: up to 70% of the time (depending on site).
- May require frequent transferring of clients with another employee, transfer device or solo.
- Potential: up to 50% of the time, depending upon the specific site.
- May require bending or stooping below waist; crouching, twisting or pivoting at waist; kneeling or squatting going down to the floor, or returning to full stand from floor.
- Potential: up to 50% of the time, depending upon the specific site.
- May require pushing/pulling of wheelchairs or other equipment empty OR with client positioned in/with device.
- Potential: up to 50% of the time, depending upon the specific site.
- May require walking, standing, sitting, climbing at various intervals/levels given nature of client disabilities being worked with at any given time, or specific task being conducted (i.e. into/out of car, loading/unloading a vehicle or clients to/from van, etc.)
- Potential: up to 80% of the time.
- May require extension reaching, forward/overhead/cross midline, in order to perform tasks such as; turning clients, storing items above head, during transfers etc.
- Potential: up to 80% of the time.
- May required to sit and write, use calculator or copy machine for extended periods of time for purposes of documentation.
- Potential: up to 80% of the time.
- MUST BE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO PERFORM CPR, without reservation, at all times.
All of the above tasks may be done singularly or in conjunction with another. This can be an extremely active and fast paced position.
