Accounting Advisor
Location: Onsite at the Wilmington, DE office
Pay Rate: $38 - $45/hour, paid weekly!
Assignment Length: 3 Months Contract with possibility for extension/conversion pending performance, attendance and business need.
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri Start time can be between 8:00-9:00am EST The end time would be 5:00 (if starting at 8:00am) to 6:00pm (if starting at 9:00am) EST.
Tentative start date: 01/20/2025 upon completion of new hire onboarding

Description:
- The role of Accounting Advisor is to perform general accounting and reporting functions for the Client Health Benefits division. This role will lead in the analysis and process improvement of journal entries, reconciliations and payment, support the automation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. The role is responsible for coordinating, conducting, and documenting financial reporting or analysis. The role will also participates in the complex financial analysis projects and/or reporting.
Major Duties:
- Subject matter expert over premium recognition (including premium receivable, bad debt allowance), broker commissions, Canadian businesses etc., including leading the quarterly meetings with strategic partners, improving reporting for source data to meet the needs of reporting and analyses, and implementing and maintaining a strong control environment.
- Prepare or review all journal entries and analyses.
- Supports the monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliation process, including timely resolution of variances, development of process improvement recommendations and appropriate issue resolution.
- Identifies areas to improve efficiency and drives improvement by actively engaging business partners, developing and utilizing automation tools (e.g. Alteryx or robotics) and providing coaching as needed to team members.
- Creates and maintains policies & procedures and supporting documentation in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley.
- Supports recurring internal and external audits.
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a multi-task environment with tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Motivated, proactive self-starter
- Must work east coast time
- Experience with Alteryx, WDesk is a plus.
- Prior public accounting experience preferred, insurance industry experience preferred, reinsurance knowledge preferred.
- 6 years of Accounting/Finance experience: public accounting or insurance related experience a plus, but not required
- Intermediate PC Skills
Top Non-Negotiable Skills:
- Experience in Oracle
- Hyperion is required.
Education:
- BS in Accounting or Finance preferred, Associates required
- CPA Preferred
Upon acceptance of offer, candidates will be required to submit to a background check including employment and education verifications and a urinalysis drug screening.
