Title: Accounting Advisor

Location: Wilmington, DE, 19809 (Onsite)

Duration: 02 Months (Position can be extended or converted based on business requirements.)

Hours: Mon-Fri, start time between 8:00-9:00 AM EST; end time between 5:00-6:00 PM EST (depending on start time)

Description:

• The Accounting Advisor will perform general accounting and reporting functions for the Client’s Global Health Benefits division.
• This role involves leading the analysis and process improvement of journal entries, reconciliations, and payments, as well as supporting the automation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• The Advisor will coordinate, conduct, and document financial reporting and analyses. Additionally, they will participate in complex financial analysis projects and reporting initiatives.

Major Duties:

• Serve as a subject matter expert on premium recognition (including premium receivable and bad debt allowance), broker commissions, and Canadian business operations. This includes leading quarterly meetings with strategic partners, improving source data reporting to meet analytical and reporting needs, and maintaining a strong control environment.
• Prepare or review journal entries and perform analyses.
• Support the monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring timely resolution of variances, developing process improvement recommendations, and resolving issues appropriately.
• Identify areas for efficiency improvements and drive enhancements by engaging business partners, developing and utilizing automation tools (e.g., Alteryx or robotics), and providing coaching as needed to team members.
• Create and maintain policies, procedures, and supporting documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Provide support for recurring internal and external audits.

• Experience with Oracle.
• Proficiency in Hyperion.

Qualifications:

• Experience with Alteryx and WDesk is a plus.
• Prior public accounting experience is preferred.
• Insurance industry or reinsurance knowledge is preferred.
• 6 years of accounting/finance experience (public accounting or insurance-related experience is a plus, but not required).
• Intermediate PC skills.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; an Associate’s degree is required.
• CPA is preferred.
