Purpose

The Integration Swing Tech plays a crucial role as a team of people responsible for making sure that all our integrators and project teams have the necessary help to continue delivering projects successfully. As the title implies, the “swing” role is rooted in the ability to be flexible, grown through a diverse and generalist skillset, and is further fortified with a fierce appetite for continuous learning. Leaning on a positive approach to troubleshooting problems with creative solutions, this position is almost always hands-on, with a strong level of technical expertise, and a robust commitment to quality on par in importance to teamwork and the strong ability to self-start. Most importantly, this position involves having fun while performing meaningful work that directly and positively contributes to the success of the integration team and the organization.

Amongst the Integration Swing Techs, the Tools related management is a further specialty requiring an administrative leaning focus. In addition to the flexible tasks of the swing tech, this role will help set up and administer a stock of tools and equipment which are checked out to jobs and individuals. A strong focus of organization, office skills and a familiarity with specialized tools is required.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment in various Integration spaces
  • Assist in the installation and setup of equipment, machinery, and TAIT products
  • Focus on infrastructure and building preparations to help facilitate project needs
  • Hang chain motors and rigging equipment to support aforementioned project infrastructure
  • Advance preparations and improvements related to shop flow and storage
  • Stock and supply all amounts of safety equipment and signage in support of projects
  • Maintain detailed inspection records of Integration equipment, along with performing routine maintenance
  • Contribute to the unloading & loading of trucks and material transfer between TAIT and local buildings
  • Set up and prepare all electrical requirements in advance of a project
  • Support the decommissioning and removal of outdated rigging and safety gear
  • Receive and sort Integration equipment/gear that returns from onsite jobs
  • Effectively manages workload, prioritizes tasks, and meets deadlines
  • Willingness to work both independently and as part of a team

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a theatrical/entertainment technician OR
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a role related to technical fabrication
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED, but technical degree or vocational training, a plus
  • Proven experience with fabrication tools and techniques related to assembly and modification of parts
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and software
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and the ability to work in a safe manner in a fast-paced environment
  • Relevant technical certifications encouraged, including mobile elevated work platforms, lift trucks, OSHA, rigging, etc.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Expected travel: NONE

Working Conditions & Physical Effort

Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift or move 70 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to pull or push 140 lbs.

Work Conditions Of The Role Are

  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, loud noises, and/or various weather conditions
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions, including any work-at-height from a lift or elevated position.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes safety glasses, reflective vest, earplugs, steel toed shoes, harness, and other PPE, as required.
