Operations Development Program (ODP) at Takeda offer individuals interested in Biotech industry the unique opportunity to experience rotations focusing on personal development, mentorship, networking, leadership, and technical skill-building, starting in an entry-level role. ODP members begin their Takeda careers in a supportive, structured environment that encourages self-directed learning and promotes accelerated growth. Upon successful completion of all rotations, a senior leader will guide the graduate to identify the next steps in their Takeda career.

The Operations Development Program is a 27-month rotational program that provides valuable experiences across Takeda's Global Manufacturing & Supply and Global Quality (GMSGQ) functions. This rotational program comprises three nine-month rotations in multiple US locations (MA, GA, CA, MN, and IL). You will be assigned an Executive Program Mentor and Peer Rotation Mentors during the program to help introduce you to Takeda's culture, the values, and goals of the program.

  • Through formal training and on-the-job experiences, the program is committed to developing your technical, leadership, and teamwork skills while exposing you to Takeda's technologies, products, and global markets.
  • You will attend an annual Summit event with all rotational program members across Takeda's programs for collaboration, development, and networking.

Rotations are assigned based on business needs and matched with your skills and development goals. Assignments are designed to challenge you to adapt and contribute to each position. You will learn and understand several aspects of their rotational assignment quickly.

The Rotations can be specific to site-based or globally focused operations, such as Network Strategy, Business Excellence, and Product Operations. Below are a few examples of rotational options where you will learn:

  • Engineering – how to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods by using knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control standards, and soliciting observations from operators. Will also learn equipment commissioning process (e.g., developing URS, FRS, DDS, performing FAT/SAT, FMEA, and qualification).
  • Manufacturing – manufacturing processes, leading a team, and supporting systems that ensure quality and on-time delivery of our products.
  • Quality – adherence, and deployment of quality systems such as batch record review, product release, change control, exception management, and product annual reviews.
  • Supply Chain – distribution, purchasing, warehouse operations, and planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management – all aspects of project management as it applies to project execution on important facility project(s). The areas in which ODP Associates will run the project(s) will include but not be limited to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management, and Information Systems.
  • Product Operations – support team in translating commercial and portfolio/product strategy into manufacturing operation's strategy. This would include future capacity requirements and market expansion focus. Gain understanding and exposure to a global environment by supporting multiple aspects of commercial products. (e.g., product strategy plan, brand plan, long-range forecast, developing and presenting business cases to governance bodies, program risk register, and more).
  • Network Strategy – managing and maintaining the long-range production capacity planning, database modeling, working cross-functionally to update the model with the latest process information, developing scenarios to understand investment prioritization for Global Manufacturing Supply, and improving visualization for data modeling.

Program Timeline

  • The program start date for the next ODP cohort is Monday, July 17, 2023.
  • The expected program completion date is October 2025.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) or Hard Sciences (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.) is required.

Candidates considered include:

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in one of the aforementioned fields, with a 3.0 GPA or above and who have completed a relevant internship experience. The degree must be completed before the expected program start date.
  • Graduates with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in one of the aforementioned fields, AND with relevant experience (e.g. internship, co-op, unpaid volunteer work, etc.) of no more than 3 years.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work & walking in the facility.

Working Environment –  applicable to manufacturing site-specific rotations

  • Can work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body.
  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, or artificial fingernails may be worn in the controlled work environment.
  • May work in an area that requires wearing protective equipment.
  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers, and celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • May work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
  • Inside working conditions.
  • Some Clean rooms and cool/hot storage conditions.
  • 5% travel during rotation.

Base Salary Range: $63,700.00 to $91,000.00. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.   

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
