Job Summary:
The Permit Specialist is responsible for obtaining permits and licenses required for construction, development, or other regulated activities. The role involves researching permit requirements, preparing and submitting permit applications, and communicating with government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Research permit requirements and regulations for construction, development, or other regulated activities.
- Prepare and submit permit applications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate with government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and resolve issues as needed.
- Review permit applications and other documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Track and maintain records of permit applications and approvals.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams and other stakeholders regarding permit requirements and processes.
- Monitor and stay up to date on changes to permit regulations and requirements.
- Participate in meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Other duties as needed or assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, preferred but not required
- 2 years of experience in obtaining permits, preferred but not required
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal permit requirements and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other software programs
- Experience with permit tracking and management software preferred
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Positive and proactive attitude

- Regularly required to speak/present to management, governing offices, and customers.
