Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and execute a long-term HR strategy aligned with organizational mission and objectives.
- Advise the executive team on talent strategy, workforce planning, and organizational design.
- Serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership in cultivating a strong, inclusive organizational culture.
- Stay ahead of HR trends, policy changes, and legal developments to proactively mitigate risk and ensure best-in-class practices.
- Oversee agency-wide compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, including ACA, EEO, 5500 filings, and workers' compensation.
- Partner with legal counsel and external vendors on audits, investigations, and complex employee matters.
- Maintain and update HR policies and employee handbooks to reflect legal requirements and organizational values.
- Manage all core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and separations.
- Supervise and mentor HR staff, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and continuous learning.
- Guide and support department heads on coaching, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
- Champion DEI principles throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Lead agency-wide communications related to HR policies, benefits, and employee initiatives.
- Facilitate all-staff meetings and engagement activities that reinforce a positive, transparent culture.
- Collaborate with leadership to improve employee experience and drive retention.
- Support strategic planning, change management, and HR integration during organizational transitions such as mergers or expansions.
- Implement learning and development initiatives that foster growth, equity, and leadership capacity at all levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in a nonprofit, healthcare, or social services setting.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of federal and New York State employment law and compliance requirements.
- Experience collaborating with benefits brokers, attorneys, and compliance vendors.
- Outstanding communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- High emotional intelligence, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Strong commitment to equity, transparency, and mission-driven leadership.
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
