Job Title: Catholic Religious Education Coordinator
The Catholic Religious Education (RE) Coordinator is responsible for the overall management, logistical support, and execution of Catholic Religious Education ministries, Sacramental Preparation, and the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) at Edwards Air Force Base, CA. Working in conjunction with the Catholic Priest, this role ensures seamless administration, curriculum management, and volunteer coordination for Catholic faith-based programs and events.

Place of performance – Edwards Air Force Base, California
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Development:
- Oversee Catholic religious education programs, including Sunday Schools, Bible Studies, Men/Women/Youth of the Chapel, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and Sacramental Preparation.
- Assist in planning and executing the annual VBS with the Protestant Parish and submit an after-action report to the Wing Chaplain.
- Manage all logistical and administrative support for Catholic faith-based activities in alignment with Chapel policies and ministry plans.
- Coordinate with Chapel staff, volunteers, and parishioners to support all Catholic education programs and events.
Personnel & Volunteer Management:
- The contractor is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing personnel for Catholic Religious Education programs.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers for Sacramental Preparation, Bible Studies, and VBS in accordance with Air Force policies.
- Maintain a secure database of volunteer and leader rosters, ensuring compliance with privacy and security regulations.
Financial & Budget Management:
- Develop and propose the annual Chapel Tithes and Offerings Fund (CTOF) and Appropriated Fund (APF) budgets for Catholic religious education programs.
- Track all expenditures and ensure compliance with Chapel financial policies.
- Manage religious education literature, ensuring availability of current materials and proper disposal of outdated resources.
Curriculum Management & Administration:
- Assist the Catholic Priest in selecting curriculum aligned with Archdiocese for the Military Services guidelines.
- Maintain a record of curriculum usage, including implementation dates, expiration, and assigned educators.
- Submit monthly reports on religious education activities, including attendance, volunteers, and event details, to the Chapel Superintendent and Deputy Wing Chaplain.
Personnel Availability & Scheduling:
- Personnel are required to be available during Chapel operational hours, weekends, holidays, and special services as specified in the contract.
- Musicians must be available for rehearsals and required services, including Sundays, Holy Days, and special events.
- Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts for religious education events.
Compliance & Security Requirements:
- Security Clearance and Background Checks are mandatory for all personnel involved in Catholic religious education programs.
- Ensure compliance with Air Force Chaplain Corps standards, privacy policies, and financial regulations.
Work Schedule & Reporting:
- Work hours are flexible but require availability during weekday office hours (Mon-Fri 0900-1700), evenings, weekends, and special services.
- Attend and participate in Chapel Staff, Catholic Staff, Parish Advisory Council, and Financial Working Group meetings as needed.
This role demands strong organizational, financial, and leadership skills, ensuring the spiritual development and faith-based education of the Catholic community at Edwards AFB.
