SUMMARY

The Counselor works under the supervision of the Regional Director of Clinical Services and is responsible for implementing client services in a manner that addresses the Talbot Health Services mission and ensuring they are provided consistently with the organizations vision and values.
This is an hourly position with hours and a schedule established to complete the required duties. This position is not exempt from wage and hour regulations as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor and is therefore granted protections under the Wage and Hour Division of the Fair Labor Standards Act. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION Required
  • Active Ohio LSW, LPC or LCDC II or III license in good standing
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field Preferred
  • Active Ohio LISW, LPCC or LICDC license in good standing
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Training
  • Crisis Prevention/De-escalation Training ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide initial and ongoing assessments, counseling, and clinical interventions to a designated caseload.
  • Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy interventions.
  • Integrate Trauma Informed Care practices while working with clients.
  • Communicate with relevant internal and external care providers to complete ongoing assessments and coordinate care.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and full compliance of all chart documentation including, but not limited to biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic summaries, treatment plans and reviews, progress notes, grand admission forms, signed release of information authorizations, follow-up release forms, correspondence, discharge/transfer summaries, aftercare plans.
  • Complete all billing information accurately and within the required time period, as applicable.

  • Provide the following support or services under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director: screening for appropriateness of treatment, client orientation to program, client assessment, treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, case management, crisis intervention, client education, referrals, case consultation.
  • Maintain an “audit ready” status with prompt filing of case record documentation.
  • Continue to attend workshops, seminars, in-services, and classes to remain current with the changes within the profession.
  • Maintain communication regarding professional treatment of clients with all other departments and follow recommendations from other professionals when necessary and applicable.
  • Maintain complete and current clinical records regarding all clients, including completed documentation within 48 hours of provided service(s).
  • Achieve productivity goals as assigned.
  • Maintain an active Ohio license, in good standing with the state board.
  • Perform duties in accordance with applicable professional ethics and standards as well as agency policies.
  • Comply with all state and federal laws regarding protected health information. ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform all duties in a manner that’s friendly, considerate, and aligned with the Agency’s vision and values in accordance with applicable professional ethics and standards and agency policies.
  • Comply with all state and federal laws regarding PHI.
  • Organize and plan work for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Utilize IT systems and software programs in accordance with agency policy.
  • Utilize time off in a manner consistent with agency policy.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by supervisor.
  • Abide by all clinical policies and procedures.
  • Attend all staff meetings unless extenuating circumstances are prevalent.
  • Abide by the professional ethics of the individual’s professional discipline and organization.
  • Maintain full compliance with state and federal rules and guidelines regarding treatment.
  • Adhere to all rules of Federal confidentiality.
  • Adhere to all requirements established by funding sources for maintaining case records. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • Ability to learn and utilize the agency’s electronic tools effectively and efficiently within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate a current knowledge of mental health and substance use practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and partnerships available.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively function as an agency team member.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Possess and demonstrate effective organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate the ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities in facilities or community-based residences and buildings with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical support.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Effectively operate a computer and keyboard.
