MEP Estimator

We are hiring a Lead Estimator with specialized experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. This position plays a key role in shaping successful bids and proposals for diverse construction projects by producing accurate cost estimates and collaborating closely with operations and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Build full conceptual estimates for client development and relationship-building efforts.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
• Support awarded jobs by assisting with extra work pricing, procurement, and change order documentation.
• Coordinate with proposal teams to assemble comprehensive packages including narratives, charts, and schedules.
• Define scope of MEP work through drawing analysis, pre-bid participation, and review of proposal requirements.
• Draft subcontract agreements and participate in vendor negotiations.
• Offer cost-effective alternatives based on material availability, engineering considerations, or performance goals.
• Maintain strong ethical partnerships with engineers, owners, suppliers, and consultants.
• Provide detailed estimate breakdowns and justification documentation for internal and external use.

Required Skills

• Strong communication skills for clearly explaining bid details to clients and subcontractors.
• Demonstrated ability to produce detailed estimates with limited oversight.
• Effective in fast-paced environments, with solid task prioritization and multitasking abilities.
• Hands-on experience with On Screen Takeoff or similar estimating tools preferred.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Deep knowledge of cost estimating principles, conceptual budgeting, and value engineering.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and project scheduling tools like MS Project.

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering preferred.
• 8 years of estimating experience in construction, ideally with MEP focus.
