Job Description
The Operating Room (OR) Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, strategic planning, and overall management of the surgical services department. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective patient care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The OR Director collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and hospital leadership to optimize workflow, enhance patient safety, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the operating room, pre-op, PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit), and sterile processing.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, patient care, and staff productivity.
• Monitor case scheduling, room utilization, and resource allocation to maximize efficiency.

Financial & Budget Management:

• • Manage department budget, including labor costs, supply chain, and capital expenditures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with supply chain management to optimize surgical inventory and equipment usage.

Quality & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, AORN standards).
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and surgical safety.
• Oversee infection control and sterilization protocols.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Serve as a liaison between surgical staff, anesthesia providers, hospital administration, and ancillary departments.
• Facilitate communication to ensure alignment of surgical services with hospital goals and patient needs.
• Address patient and family concerns related to surgical care.
