Technology Architect (Salesforce)

1 Salesforce (software and data) Architecture; Technical Leadership.

You will work to define the technical and data architecture and direction for our client’s new Salesforce LPI application, a cloud-based solution for professional licensing and inspection. You will work with our client team to establish the working agreements between our client and the software implementation vendor’s technical teams, defining the technology milestones and delivery schedules, and product release criteria. You will ensure our client’s vendor(s) execute on the technical vision and deliver high-quality software and solutions for the constituents of our client. While our client has defined a conceptual, high-level solution architecture, the early stages of this role will involve refining the solution architecture in partnership with our client’s selected implementing vendor as part of the initial implementation.

2 Technology and solution leadership.

You will work with our client’s Product Manager to finalize a product roadmap and refine the solution approach based on user research and business process optimization work occurring February-June 2024. You will collaborate with our client’s product manager and the vendor technical and product leads to define and estimate development, QA and other workstreams, plan implementation efforts, and help define and iterate on the solutions’ future technical roadmap.

3 Engineering practices & alignment with EOED IT and EOTSS.

You will set and enforce engineering processes and tooling that will empower technical staff and help make the project successful. You will ensure environments are set up according to standards. You will collaborate with technical leadership to align your product’s technical direction with our client’s standards. Technical leaders will support you in solving problems that our client has already tackled and look to you to advocate for the best technical solutions for your product where those standards might not be a fit. In the future, you will coordinate with our client and its vendor(s) to determine an appropriate organizational structure to support ongoing production and operations.

Most team members have a hybrid work arrangement, spending some days in the office with their co-workers, and the rest of their time working remotely. We look forward to discussing a mutually agreeable approach with qualified candidates.

Requirements

• You'll be a good fit for this role if you have experience :
• Leading development project and reporting to executives. This is a senior role. You will be in a position to provide guidance and set direction related to advanced technical concepts. You will also be expected to coordinate and communicate with business and technical stakeholders, requiring excellent communications skills, both verbally and written.
• Working with large-scale Salesforce applications. The solutions you will oversee will be available to millions of Massachusetts constituents. Software projects at this scale present specific complexities and challenges, and you’ll be most successful if you have previously held a lead technical role on at least one large scale Salesforce project.
• Modern tools and programming languages. We would like you to have deep hands-on experience with a few of these things, familiarity with most, and willingness to be proactive and learn about these or other technologies :
• Salesforce – understanding of traditional Salesforce CRM platform and recent technologies including LPI modules, DataCloud, Einstein and DocuSign.
• Data management and reporting - RDBMS and NoSQL databases, cloud-based and data integration tools and warehouses (e.g. MuleSoft, Tableau, Snowflake)
• REST API frameworks in a variety of language(s).
• CI / CD and DevOps tools, particularly Jira and Copado
• Automated testing frameworks and tools
• Mobile application frameworks (e.g. Salesforce Lightning)
• Working on projects with external vendors. Many of our product teams are composed of both external vendors and internal team members. We will rely on you to advocate for our client with our vendors, directing them to ensure that the vendor’s team is delivering high-quality software on time and according to agreed-upon functionality. We will also rely on you to help build expertise internally on the solutions delivered by our vendors to ensure they meet the short and long-term technology roadmap we have created.
• Ability to see the big picture, but dive into the details. As the lead Technology Architect, you will be responsible for the overall technology delivery and should have the technical depth to dive into the specifics of each aspect of the solution, including the software development, data engineering and analytics, QA processes and User Experience (UX).

• Experience with the following :
• Experience in both waterfall and agile software delivery methodologies
• SaaS and IaaS : Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Salesforce cloud, Snowflake, others
• Security & Privacy expertise within a public sector environment
