Job Summary
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Performs routine administrative human resources work relating to compensation, benefits, and absence management. Involved with employee disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations.
· Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborates with department managers to understand the necessary skills and competencies required for openings.
· Performs required onboarding activities including pre-employment testing, background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
· Conducts new hire orientation, benefit enrollment meetings and quarterly 401(k) enrollment sessions.
· Creates an open environment where employees feel free to ask questions and field concerns.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
· Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
· Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Spanish language skills are preferred).
· Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and able to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate; time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
· Proficient with HR tools, Microsoft Office Suite; HRIS and talent management systems.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
