We are hiring for an Assistant Logistics Manager!
Someone to support management and assist in overall logistics operations, including importation & customs, domestic transportation, and ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
The Logistics Assistant Manager will assist in the organization and execution of plans in the transportation of product, vendor selection/negotiation, distribution of product as needed, and customer shipments. The Assistant Logistics Manager will support the Logistics Manager in all logistics related duties by leading, providing training, delegating, monitoring and improving resources and people within the Logistics Department. He/ She will provide details and knowledge to develop and enforce standard operating procedures and Best Practices in compliance with federal regulations. He/ She will help build and support relationships with vendors and/or clients to help resolve any freight issues/obstacles that may arise. To perform this job successfully, an individual shall have broad knowledge of the organization and functions of activities involved in providing logistical support and be familiar with a variety of the logistics concepts, practices, and procedures. This position relies on experience, good judgment, and inter-department relationships to plan and accomplish goals. The qualified candidate is required to perform a variety of tasks. He/ She will lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected and encouraged.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support, demonstrate leadership, and guide the Logistics team's daily work; train team members in job duties or company policies and/or arrange for training to be provided. Provide support and guidance to the team on each of their responsibilities; make recommendations, guide, and suggest reasonable ideas for work efficiency improvements
- Responsible for major activities within the department; ensure all shipments/invoices are processed in timely manner; ensure logistics / customs fees, freight charges are verified; obtain management's approval as required
- Assist the team in investigating, researching, resolving any shipment / customs / payments / claims issue with other departments, customers, and/or vendors; update management on status.
- Ensure records are maintained of all shipments as they pertain to on time delivery, costs, and level of service; support management in defining, measuring, and reporting performance metrics for Inbound Suppliers and DCs.
- Monitor all shipments of products; coordinate with relevant parties to ensure company policies and procedures are followed; responsible for all inbound shipments to ensure products are received properly by the DCs and/or customers.
- Assist management in refining and/or developing department policies, procedures, work instructions, etc.
- Assist supply chain operations of the company for proper documentation and activities to maintain compliance with CBP and C-TPAT requirements.
- Assist in the review, negotiation, and implementation terms for Steamship lines contract with Corporate offices
- Assist management in developing performance metrics with inbound suppliers/vendors as needed; ensure quality and delivery requirements are met.
- Assist in the review and quote comparison from new suppliers/vendors. Support management in identifying and qualifying new suppliers/vendors.
- Supervise, support the coordination of the logistics team in inbound tracking, customs clearance, drayage coordination, claim management, etc. as needed.
- Collect and identify data used in measurement reports for management, as needed and support the preparation of shipment reports for management to use in staff meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Salary : $85,000 - $90,000
