Reporting to: Associate Director
The AV Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting audiovisual technology in numerous classrooms and event/conference spaces in multiple buildings on the Harvard campus as well as for remote teaching and learning. This role may be engaged in video productions, live streaming, video conferences and live audiovisual event support. Ensure presenters are aware of technology and ready prior to the start of events and presentations. May monitor ACV systems and processes, tracking and reporting on trends. Assist with maintaining audiovisual equipment and minor repairs as needed.
Key Duties
Support advance run-throughs, dress rehearsals, and day-of audio-visual needs for events including music performances, film screenings, digital slide talks, panel discussions with audience Q&A, and other formats of public events.
Review AV needs and ROE (Run of Event) with Associate Director for each day at start of shift.
Follow direction provided by Senior Manager Events and Operations for Smith Center events; follow direction provided by Events and Operations Coordinator for Science Center Plaza.
Greet internal clients in advance of each event day-of.
Work as a flexible and collaborative partner with team members to produce memorable campus and community events.
Stay to close the events;
Document COE (Close of Event) at end of shift and email to Associate Director any notes including successes and issues.
Dress Code
Business casual (no jeans) or event black is appropriate for all events.
Technology Skills Required: Solid knowledge of current media technology that includes video projection, audio (in-room and hybrid), Zoom or other video conferencing, and presenting and basic lighting. Experience working with a range of amplification for music performances is preferred in addition to background in digital presentations and hybrid programming with Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 65lbs, be standing or moving quickly from spaces without high level of effort. Physical stamina necessary and ability to move related audio/visual/projection equipment.
This is a temporary AV support position within the Common Spaces team that will provide key AV event coverage at the Smith Campus Center and Science Center Plaza for a selection of agreed upon events that will take place between March 14 through September 5, 2025 (Monday – Fridays only).
Schedule is subject to change and will be communicated to you with as much notice as possible.
