Location : Huntsville, AL
Duration : 1 year
Travel - 15% Mostly Domestic between KY and West Virginia & Some international trip to Japan.
Overtime : 20%. Busy During the shutdown periods

Performance Analysis : Conduct comprehensive analysis of powertrain unit performance metrics including quality, cost, and delivery. Utilize data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to enhance competitiveness.
Competitive Benchmarking : Research and analyze competitors' powertrain units to understand market trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Translate findings into actionable strategies to maintain or surpass industry standards.
Cost Optimization : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost reduction opportunities within the powertrain unit production process. Implement strategies to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality or performance.
Process Improvement : Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and enhance productivity throughout the powertrain unit lifecycle. Implement lean methodologies and Kaizen principles to drive operational excellence.
Supplier Collaboration : Partner with suppliers to optimize component sourcing, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure timely delivery of quality materials. Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and drive mutual success.
New Technology Integration : Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry developments related to powertrain engineering and manufacturing. Evaluate feasibility and potential impact of adopting new technologies to improve unit competitiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to align objectives and drive synergy across the organization. Communicate effectively to ensure a shared understanding of goals and priorities.
Reporting and Presentation : Prepare and present reports, performance dashboards, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders. Communicate key findings, progress updates, and future strategies to drive informed decision-making.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field. Mandatory
Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive manufacturing, powertrain engineering, or related industry.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
Demonstrated experience in cost optimization, process improvement, and project management.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
Strategic thinker with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
Preferred Skills : PLC experience
CNC background
Knowledge on machine tooling
Assembly equipment experience
Knowledge of cobots and implementation to assembly processes
Notes :
Continuous improvement of current powertrain lines instead of new powertrain lines.
Machining and assembly backgrounds.
CNC programming (CNC programming to cut metal and drill holes, mill surfaces, etc.).
Troubleshooting the machine when the tooling is having issues. Can be hands on. Assembly
Prefers someone that knows programming and what the machine is doing.
Ladder logic is the PLC controller.
Someone that worked on setting up new robots knows the communication of the machines (CNC's).
Nice to know what automation projects they've overseen including spend. Looking for a hands-on type of individual.
Other job titles this role would be? Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer.
PLC : - open to any so Fanuc, Mitsubishi, etc.
on floor vs office? A month or 2 at the desk 70-80% of time. Then 100% on floor after that OR maybe 50 / 50? When on the floor it is PLC troubleshooting, programming, working on controller, ladder logic, etc. Troubleshoot solutions, why the machine isn't running.
