Our client, a NY City based construction company, is seeking a detailed-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable / Payroll Specialist to join their finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing our accounts payable processes, entering invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors, and maintaining financial records. A background in the interior commercial construction industry is essential for understanding the unique financial aspects and terminology associated with construction projects. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
- Interact with subcontractors and vendors
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all AP transactions
- Monitor vendor payment agreements to ensure payments are up to date
- Collect and process weekly union payroll
- Compile and submit weekly governmental payroll taxes
- Complete monthly union reports
- Complete quarterly payroll taxes
- Assist with month-end closing activities and prepare reports as needed
- Support the finance team with additional task and projects as required
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Proficiency in accounting software Sage 300/Timberline a must
- Knowledgeable with PO’s and Job Costing
- Knowledgeable with Payroll requirements
- Experience with Interior Commercial Construction A/P
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights
- Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
The compensation for this position ranges from $70,000.00 - $90,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
