Our client, a Private Foundation is NYC, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team.
The ideal candidate will track and evaluate day-to-day accounting and support financial activities. Their responsibilities will include managing the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements, processing payments, implementing policies and procedures that adhere to governmental, financial, and tax regulations, and complying with GAAP and SEC standards. In addition, they will work closely with our external accounting and investment management teams.
Responsibilities
Accounting Management
- Support the daily operations of the foundation’s accounting including:
- Monthly, quarterly, and year-end processing of accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities
- Processing check runs
- Budgeting
- Cash forecasting
- Analyzing revenue and expenditure variances
- Reconciling capital assets, trust account statements, check runs, fixed assets activity, and debt activity
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements for the President, Financial Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Post deposits into QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Enter invoices into QBO daily.
- Enter payroll transactions into QBO bi-weekly.
- Enter credit card transactions and reconcile balance in QBO monthly.
- Provide QBO internal financial statements on a bi-weekly basis.
- Comparative statement of financial position
- Comparative statement of activities
- Maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- Enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles, researching and providing recommendations to improve established systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Coordinate and assist with annual audits.
- Meet financial accounting objectives.
- Collaborate with external auditors, investors, CPAs to provide requested information.
Skills and Requirements
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
- The applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.
- The ideal candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor, or Finance Manager.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Prior work experience in accounting is essential.
- The position requires a person who is well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Willingness to work beyond working hours for events, or otherwise required.
- Advanced and proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
- Advanced and proven computer skills in accounting software and databases such as QuickBooks.
- Detailed knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Salesforce, project management software (Monday.com, Asana, etc.), macOS, Google Calendar and database programs is essential.
The compensation for this position ranges from $140,000.00 - $160,000.00. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
