About the Opportunity:
We are a leading healthcare company seeking a Privacy Officer to manage the development and implementation of our organization's privacy program. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including HIPAA, across various business units. The Privacy Officer will collaborate with leadership, legal teams, and external agencies to maintain privacy best practices, monitor compliance, and drive initiatives that support data protection and security.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, update, and oversee the privacy program to align with HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and stay current with regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Ensure organizational compliance with privacy policies and contractual obligations related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess privacy risks and implement best practices in business processes and vendor management.
- Coordinate with security and compliance teams to conduct risk assessments and audits.
- Establish mechanisms for tracking and reporting PHI access and usage.
- Provide regular reports on privacy program performance to senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain privacy-related documentation, including policies, training materials, and agreements.
- Collaborate with legal and HR teams to address and resolve privacy-related complaints and concerns.
- Ensure workforce training and ongoing education on privacy regulations and internal policies.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies during compliance reviews, investigations, and audits.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- JD and practicing attorney.
- 10 years of relevant experience in privacy compliance and healthcare regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy laws.
- Strong leadership skills within healthcare compliance.
- Experience in training on privacy compliance.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Advanced degree (MBA, MHA).
- Expertise in contract law and compliance frameworks.
- Relevant certifications in privacy compliance (e.g., CIPP, CHPC).
