What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at TalentoHC?
TalentoHC is actively partnered with an enterprise client seeking a Sr. Accountant on a 6-month contract (possibility for extension) to support their Accounting department through critical ongoing projects in 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly general journal entries and provide accounting and analytical support to Management during the month end close process.
- Perform account analyses and variance explanations for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Apply accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information for preparation of financial reports for month end.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Prepare account reconciliations including prepaids and accruals, for Accounting.
- Review staff accountant work for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and appropriate recording of financial information.
- Support management with special projects such as the implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and controls
- Evaluate and streamline processes to create efficiencies within the Accounting department.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- CPA a plus
- Masters/MBA degree a plus
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
- Experience with Peoplesoft software or large company ERP systems a plus.
- Strong communication skills, (verbal and written).
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Able to work extra hours during month end close and as needed.
