- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with attorneys, staff, and clients to ensure compliance with billing requirements.
- Verify rates, implement outside counsel guidelines, monitor fee caps and discounts, set alerts, and coordinate with the Billing & Intake Committee on adjustments.
- Oversee the billing process from prebill review to final submission, ensuring accuracy and timely processing while adhering to client and attorney specifications.
- Collaborate with eBilling Coordinators to set up client accounts with electronic billing requirements, troubleshoot submission issues, and ensure timely payment.
- Communicate directly with clients and attorneys regarding billing arrangements, special requests, accruals, audits, and payment reports.
- Maintain updated prebill status reports and monitor unapplied cash, assisting in accurate payment applications and trust fund allocations.
- Establish effective backup support processes, including cross-training and knowledge sharing, to ensure seamless billing operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
- Proficiency with financial management systems and advanced Excel reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess financial data and trends.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with a high level of accuracy and detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
