talisman is partnered with a leader developer/IPP who are looking for a dynamic Director of Preconstruction to lead and develop a team of talented Preconstruction Project Managers, ensuring their solar, wind, and energy storage projects are fully optimized and ready for construction across the South US region. This role plays a crucial part in shaping clean energy initiatives and delivering projects on time, within budget, and with top-tier quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development:
- Manage a team of Preconstruction Project Managers, overseeing resource planning, project assignments, and performance management for utility-scale solar projects
- Foster professional growth through coaching and feedback, driving continuous improvement and career development.
Project Oversight:
- Ensure projects are build-ready by managing engineering, procurement, permitting, and construction planning.
- Support successful project handovers to the execution teams, ensuring capex and schedule requirements are met.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Partner with development, engineering, procurement, and execution teams to meet critical development milestones.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive alignment and project success.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
- Manage relationships with external contractors and negotiate key agreements to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Process Improvement:
- Lead process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team capabilities and project outcomes.
- Capture lessons learned to optimize future projects.
What You Bring:
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
- 12-15 years of relevant experience in preconstruction or renewable energy project management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and deliver on time and within budget.
- Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for the renewable energy space and driving impactful change.
