POSITION: Child Nutrition Program Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Experience preferred
- General knowledge or training in basic principles of accounting and computer skills
- Current/complete application on file
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO: Principal/ Child Nutrition Program Director
JOB GOAL: Supervise a safe, efficiently run program maintaining all standards of the Board of Education and State and Federal regulations in a positive atmosphere that provides delicious, nutritious meals for children.
Essential functions:
Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Check food shipments into the school, signing each order only after each order has been verified. The duty may at times be delegated to another employee; however, the manager will be held responsible for receipt of food shipments.
Determine the quantities of each food to be served daily.
Determine the size of each serving to meet the necessary age requirements.
Provide food according to a planned menu and tested recipes, and determine if the finished product is of best quality, both in flavor and appearance before it is served.
Record all food requisitions from the storeroom and record all meals served.
Oversee the locking of the cafeteria storeroom, cooler, freezer and the maintaining of a correct monthly inventory.
Order on a weekly basis all necessary food and supplies. Abide by all current procedures for all items bid. Follow the State Procurement Procedures for all non-bid items.
Report immediately to the principal any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.
Confer with the principal and the CNP Director regarding any personnel problems.
Maintain proper and professional relationship with students and other employees.
Be familiar with and follow Talladega County Board of Education Policies.
Maintain a complete and accurate monthly inventory.
Maintain such records as required by the Child Nutrition Program.
Perform duties in a manner that promotes good public relations.
Report to the Principal and Child Nutrition Director any faulty or inferior food which is received.
Supervises the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware and utensils.
Evaluate all CNP Employees under their supervision.
Plan work schedules and menus and supervise the preparation of food at the school. Be informed and be able to take care of all types of emergencies.
.Interpret to the administration, staff and public as appropriate, federal and state guidelines and standards regarding the Child Nutrition Program.
Provide supervision for the use of facilities for all school functions which involve the use of the cafeteria.
Receive suggestions from student groups and parents regarding program improvements and make every effort to incorporate such suggestions into the Child Nutrition Program in a manner consistent with good nutritional standards.
Serve as a consultant to teachers planning lesson or units on food, meal planning or nutrition as requested.
Exhibit personal grooming and dress appropriate to food service. Managers will be required to wear food service uniforms with no jewelry.
Be regular and punctual in attendance.
Attend Child Nutrition Program workshops and other appropriate in-service meetings.
Maintain confidentiality of any School System related business.
Assume responsibility for enforcing the no smoking rule.
The Manager shall assume the responsibility of making sure that no food supplies or equipment be taken from the cafeteria by CNP employees or other individuals.
Perform other job related duties that may be reasonably required by the Principal or Child Nutrition Program Director.
EVALUATION: Job Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of School Support Personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 192 days (8 hours per day) CNP Salary Schedule - Salary to be established by the Board.
