Job Title: Revenue Accountant
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Controller
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Job Summary:
The Revenue Accountant is responsible for all revenue and regulatory reporting and accounting. This role involves working closely with all departments to ensure accurate recording, allocation and distribution of all revenues and the timely completion of all related regulatory filings.
Key Responsibilities:
· Record and reconcile revenue from crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids sales, for both operated and non-operated properties.
· Allocate revenue to working interest owners, royalty owners and overriding royalty owners based on division of interest.
· Prepare and file severance tax, production tax, and federal/state royalty reports
· Ensure compliance with agencies such as the Office of Natural Resources (ONRR), Texas General Land Office, and the Oklahoma Commissioners of the Land Office
· Assist with 1099 tax reporting
· Coordinate with other departments to resolve any ownership or production discrepancies.
· Post journal entries and reconcile revenue accounts in general ledger
· Timely and accurately address inquiries from royalty owners, joint interest partners and purchasers.
Qualifications:
· 3-5 years of hands-on upstream oil and gas revenue accounting experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, preferred but not required
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
· Familiarity with oil and gas accounting software (Quorum On Demand Accounting experience preferred)
· Solid understanding of accounting processes and relevant accounting standards (knowledge of ASC 606 preferred)
