General Manager – NVOCC Company

Job Type: Full-time, In-office

Salary Range: $90k - $100k
Required Skills: Bilingual in English and Mandarin

We are an established NVOCC company seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and oversee our freight and supply chain operations. This leadership role is critical to ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of cargo, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies that ensure efficient, cost-effective cargo movement.
• Oversee all operational processes from booking cargo to final delivery, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage the booking of containers, coordinate customs clearance, and handle all customer communications.
• Lead, mentor, and provide direction to department managers and staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
• Ensure excellent customer service by maintaining strong, proactive relationships with clients.
• Promptly and professionally resolve customer inquiries and issues, ensuring their satisfaction.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant industry regulations, implementing necessary changes as regulations evolve.
• Keep current on changes in international shipping and customs regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant.
• Oversee the management of compliance documentation and reporting requirements.
• Drive innovation and process improvements within the operations department to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Identify and address operational risks and challenges, ensuring the seamless flow of operations.
• Develop and execute contingency plans to manage unexpected disruptions in the supply chain.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Proven experience in leadership roles within the NVOCC or freight industry.
• Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs compliance, and freight forwarding processes.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in international shipping and supply chain operations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with industry-specific software and technology solutions.
• Strong strategic decision-making skills and the ability to solve complex operational challenges.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry standards.
