About the Role
The Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician ensures rigorous adherence to food safety and quality standards by conducting precise testing and monitoring processes. This role supports product excellence and regulatory compliance in a dynamic production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement food safety protocols, including HACCP plans, and enforce GMP compliance.
- Conduct and record pre-operational equipment and production area inspections.
- Perform quality control checks such as weight accuracy, label validation, and metal detection.
- Analyze raw materials and finished goods for sensory, chemical, and microbiological parameters, including allergen assessments and environmental swabbing.
- Assist in research and development initiatives, including product trials and new analytical equipment testing.
- Perform internal audits on quality, sanitation, and safety practices, ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
- Maintain and revise documentation for quality and production processes to meet regulatory standards.
- Investigate and resolve quality concerns, implementing preventive measures to enhance customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Certification in HACCP and foundational training in food safety principles.
- Associate degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory testing methods, including allergen and chemical concentration assessments.
- Familiarity with maintaining lab inventories and coordinating with external testing labs.
- Understanding of food production workflows and safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQF certification processes and advanced safety programs.
- Strong skills in data documentation and compliance with regulatory standards like FSMA.
- Proven ability to conduct staff training on quality and food safety procedures.
- Knowledge of external lab coordination for specialized testing needs.
- Aptitude for supporting product development and conducting trials.
