What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Talos Automation?
Electrical Design Engineer – Packaging Automation
Industry: Packaging Machinery / Industrial Automation
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Acworth, GA, focused on designing automated packaging systems from the ground up. This is a design-focused engineering role, ideal for someone with deep experience in electrical schematics, control systems, and automation — not a hands-on electrical technician role.
You will play a central part in the conceptualization, planning, and detailed design of electrical systems for high-performance packaging machinery. Using EPLAN P8, you will take ownership of the electrical design process and work closely with our mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to bring custom automation solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop complete electrical designs and schematics for custom packaging automation systems using EPLAN P8.
- Translate customer requirements and mechanical designs into comprehensive electrical documentation.
- Design control panels, power distribution systems, and safety circuits in compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, controls, project management) throughout the design phase.
- Provide technical support during build and commissioning phases — not a hands-on wiring or installation role.
- Ensure all designs align with UL, CE, NFPA, and other applicable standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of electrical design experience, preferably in the packaging or industrial automation sectors.
- Advanced proficiency in EPLAN P8 for schematic development and panel layout.
- Solid understanding of PLC hardware, motion control, I/O systems, and industrial electrical standards.
- Experience in OEM environments, where custom machine design is standard.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field.
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems, safety relays, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
- Previous experience in the packaging machinery industry or related automated equipment.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- A design-driven role with minimal field or shop floor work.
- Opportunity to work on challenging and innovative automation projects.
- Supportive, engineering-led culture focused on technical excellence.
Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
