Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our growing food distribution company. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting while implementing strong internal controls and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of GAAP, data integrity, and financial systems, with a proven ability to drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the accounting department in maintaining accurate financial records and reporting
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Direct the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure data integrity and compliance
• Manage the integration of acquired companies' financial systems, policies, and procedures
• Supervise the quarterly and annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and oversee tax planning and filing
• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Produce financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis to support business planning
• Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights and decision support
• Monitor cash flow, optimize working capital, and maintain strong relationships with banking partners
• Identify process inefficiencies and lead the implementation of new financial systems and automation strategies to enhance data accuracy and efficiency
  
  

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience in food distribution, manufacturing, or a related industry is a plus
• Proven ability to manage financial systems, data integrity, and process automation
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities

The annual salary range for this role is $100,000-$140,000.
