SUMMARY Professional Golf Management interns work in both inside/outside golf operations, and with the rest of the golf staff to assure guests have a positive and memorable experience. Primary responsibilities include overseeing and assisting cart barn attendants, serving Club Members, Homeowners and Resort guests, golf cart fleet management, maintaining the driving range/practice area, operating the golf shop, merchandising and more. PGM interns must have excellent listening skills and an eagerness to provide excellent service to all guests. Must be flexible in meeting the varying scheduling needs of the Resort and may be required to work additional hours than scheduled, if necessary. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work with minimal supervision and interact with guests at a high level.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for overseeing the cart barn staff and golf shop staff, ensuring all duties get taken care of in a timely and professional manner. Assist with tournament operations including setup, check-in, scoring and awards. Provide a high level of customer service to all Club Members, Home Owners, Resort guests and Employees in a friendly and professional manner, while adhering to Resort guidelines and policies. Maintain order and cleanliness of working areas, as well as guest facing areas. Responsible for the daily operation of the driving range/practice area including but not limited to; setup in the morning/break down in the evening, filling divots on the range tee and practice area, repairing divots on chipping green, maintaining bunkers in practice area, collecting range balls on the driving range and surrounding areas, cleaning range balls with ball washers and restaging golf balls for reuse at the driving range. Functioning the golf shop in all aspects; retail transactions, bookings, check-ins, maintaining cleanliness and organization of brands, sizes and styles. Assist with merchandising by building items into the retail system, printing barcodes, pricing items and creating displays in the golf shop. Assist in administering golf lessons and weekly clinics. Responsible for maintaining golf cart fleet by cleaning, fueling, staging and storing carts. Reporting any cart issues to manager in a timely manner. Tracking/reporting stock of supplies necessary to complete tasks in the cart barn and driving range operations. Cooperate with the rest of the golf staff as needed to provide the best possible guest experience. May be asked to assist with golf maintenance tasks when necessary.   QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must enjoy working and interacting with the public Preferred knowledge in a Point-of-Sale system. Proven problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask   EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Currently enrolled in PGM Program at an accredited University Prior work experience with a golf facility and/or the hospitality industry is highly preferred.   REQUIREMENTS Flexible working availability including weekends and holidays Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds Detail oriented Must enjoy working and interacting with the public Maintain positive working attitude and follow TamFam values Must be 18 years of age Clean driving record   LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.   REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Requires possession of valid Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the resort insurance carrier.  Must have own reliable mode of transportation.   WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
