TAMKO Building Products LLC is seeking a Materials Technician for the facility in Frederick, Maryland. The Materials Technician is a member of the Support Team tasked with handling and processing of raw materials for Production, including inventorying, scheduling, and communicating for delivery and receipt of asphalt and aggregate products, and the grinding and transport of limestone from the mill to the main plant.
Summary of Essential Functions:

- Work in the Receiving Yard or at the Grinding Mill as needed processing, handling, and managing raw materials and associated equipment
- Unload trucks and receive asphalt or aggregate products
- Receive and process limestone rock into crushed limestone
- Enter material receipts into SAP
- Keep accurate inventory of materials
- Collect and test material samples as required by area
- Monitor equipment in assigned area for proper function, including material tanks/silos, pollution control units, heaters, etc.
- Communicate with supervisor and production lines to ensure timely delivery of materials for production and request additional materials as needed
- Communicate with suppliers and carriers regarding material load timing and type
- Operate front loader and/or forklift
- Prepare equipment for line downtime periods
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and MSHA standards and regulations, as well as TAMKO’s environmental, health and safety standards
- Maintain 5S responsibilities in designated areas
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair of equipment breakdowns
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Conduct environmental, shipping and receiving support tasks at the shingle plant as needed
- Maintain and clean work areas
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
Qualification/Training Requirements:
- DOT Hazmat Training
- Hazmat Security Training
- Training and demonstrated proficiency to perform material testing
- Knowledge of how to switch equipment from Power Company provided electric to generator provided electric.
- Authorized to turn on and/or shut off pollution control units; handle, load, and unload hazardous materials; and conduct hazardous waste cleanup operations
- Other health, safety, and environmental trainings
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to draft simple correspondence
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance
- Ability to read and respond accurately to process feedback data and make appropriate adjustments as required or directed
- Manufacturing experience preferred
