Overview:
Tampa Bay Academy of Hope's Fostering Aspirations: Mentor Engagement (FAME) Program is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Advocate (Case Manager) to support and empower young mentees within the program. The Youth Advocate will play a central role in recruiting, guiding, and monitoring the progress of mentees, ensuring their successful participation in the mentorship program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentee Recruitment:
- Collaborate with partners and community organizations to promote youth participation and success in the program.
- Develop and implement strategies to identify and recruit mentees who can benefit from mentorship.
- Match Relationship Monitoring:
- Maintain regular contact with mentees to monitor the progress and quality of their match relationships with mentors.
- Provide guidance, support, and resources to mentees to enhance their mentoring experience.
- Address any concerns or challenges within mentee-mentor matches promptly and effectively.
- Youth Success Promotion:
- Advocate for the academic, personal, and social development of mentees.
- Assist mentees in setting and achieving individual goals related to education, career aspirations, and personal growth.
- Community Engagement:
- Identify and create opportunities for mentoring activities in the community that align with the goals of the FAME Program.
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders to expand the reach and impact of the program.
- Activity Calendar Management:
- Develop and maintain a weekly calendar of mentoring activities that are easily accessible to match participants.
- Ensure that the calendar offers a variety of options to accommodate diverse interests and schedules.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of mentee profiles, match progress, and activity participation.
- Prepare monthly reports and assessments of mentee outcomes and program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred but not required).
- Previous experience in youth advocacy, case management, or mentoring programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with mentees, mentors, and community partners.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to youth development.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position based in the main office at 7402 N 56th Street, Suite 400, Tampa, FL 33617.
- Collaboration with another Youth Advocate based at 711 N Kentucky Avenue, Lakeland, FL 33801.
- Mileage compensation provided at .655/mile for travel as needed.
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate mentee schedules.
- Regular community engagement and networking activities.
