Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Two years relevant research experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.
- Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work with laboratory animals.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- A strong Biology and Biochemistry background and experience with using flow cytometer, Tube writer, DXC 700 AU, Bio-Plex 200, TSE Phenomaster, Noldus systems with Ethovision software, EchoMRI, Blood pressure, Heart monitoring, and Hatteras Metabolic cage system.
- Animal handling experience working with mice.
Responsibilities
- General Core Lab Research & Maintenance- Identifies daily core services and manages/maintains research laboratory equipment. Maintains day-to-day laboratory operations (e.g., stocking reagents, cleaning laboratory equipment and space, performing machine quality control, etc.). Maintains up-to-date standard operating procedures for the laboratory. Establishes and enforces standards for safety and quality on all laboratory equipment. Controls and ensures chemical safety, IACUC, I.B.C. guidelines, and controlled substance records are being met by all lab personnel. Performs and engages in result-generating core service, including DXC700 AU chemical analyzer and osmolality measurement, tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and tissue staining.
- User Training- Trains new researchers, performs troubleshooting, and communicates with vendor technicians as needed under the direction of the core director.
- Result Generating Core Service- Performs and engages in result-generating core service.
- Support Core Director- Provides support for Director in preparing the core brochure, data collection, other advertise-related materials and preparing proposal.
- Supervise & Mentor- Supervises, trains, and mentors undergraduate student workers and manages their schedules.
- Administration- Maintains supply and reagent inventories. Orders all laboratory supplies and equipment.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
