A nonprofit services agency in New York City is looking to add a new Employee Relations Specialist to their growing Human Resources Team. In this role, the Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for employee and labor relations, including investigations and advising management regarding disciplinary actions providing direction and expertise to prevent and mitigate employee risk and ensure compliance with governmental and other regulations.
About the Opportunity:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Assignment Length: At least 3 months
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Setting: Hybrid (3 days a week onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Assist with investigations and interviews with employees concerning employment issues / complaints
- Participate in investigations and respond to complaints of alleged harassment, discrimination and Title VII, ADA, ADEA or Equal Pay Act complaints filed with various state and federal agencies as necessary.
- Prepare investigative documentation, including interview notes and summaries of findings
- Review and respond to performance management and corrective action documents
- Educate management on Employee Relation processes and procedures
- Provide solutions and advise on employee relations strategies and risks
- Conduct training on ER-related topics (professional conduct, handling performance issues, EEO highlights, policies and pitfalls, etc.)
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in a Human Resources and/or a related position
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
- Previous experience with Employee Relations
- Computer savvy
- Microsoft Office proficient
- Solid problem-solving and time-management skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
- HRIS experience in Ceridian Dayforce
