What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist position at Tandym Group?
An acute care facility in Syracuse, NY is looking to fill an immediate need with the addition of a new Surgical Technologist.
About the Opportunity:
- Shift: Days or Evenings
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week (including weekends & holidays)
- Hours: 7am to 3:30pm or 3pm to 11:30pm
- Setting: Acute Care
Responsibilities:
- Gather, check, and organize all necessary surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Sterilize equipment and maintain a sterile field
- Assist with patient prepping, including skin cleansing and draping
- Perform instrument and sponge counts before surgery
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs and efficiently pass instruments and supplies
- Monitor blood loss and fluid levels
- Assist with handling specimens
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure
- Perform final instrument and sponge counts
- Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Assist with room cleanup and preparation for the next patient
Qualifications:
- 3 years of recent experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center
- BLS certification
- Experience with robotics, Neuro, Ortho, General, ENT, Vascular, GYN cases
- Scrub experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desired Skills:
- Surgical Technologist certification
- Prior experience in an Inpatient setting
