NOC Tech

A recognized entertainment organization has an opening for NOC Technician. This role is responsible for monitoring and ensuring high-quality signal distribution across multiple channels. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced broadcast environment.

This is onsite temporary role offering 16-20 hours p/week.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor outgoing and incoming signals to ensure high-quality transmission.
• Verify local commercial insertion triggers and Nielsen SID distribution.
• Perform routine system checks, including:
• Analyzing alarm statuses, bandwidth, and device health across over 75 encoders.
• Confirming proper functionality of mirror and disaster recovery systems.
• Checking satellite receiver signal quality and Mediaproxy recording systems.
• Verifying encrypted message transmission.
• Monitoring Crystal Control for accurate transmission paths.
• Schedule and manage downlink requests from the home office.
• Program and operate live blackouts and service replacements as needed.
• Handle affiliate engineering support calls and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Conduct routine inspections of encoding equipment.

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years of experience in transmission, broadcast operations, or a related field.
• High School Diploma or GED (College degree in broadcasting technology or related discipline preferred).
• Strong understanding of signal flow within a broadcast facility.
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple issues simultaneously.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with encoding platforms like Synamedia and CommScope.
• Familiarity with broadcast equipment (routers, analyzers, receivers, encoders).
• Knowledge of industry-standard monitoring and control systems.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
