Description
As an Inventory Clerk at Tangent, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate inventory management, supporting material handling operations. This role includes conduction cycle counts, managing silo and railcar samples, and assisting with daily receiving tasks. The specialist will also operate equipment, including sit down forklifts, and work both indoors and outdoors under varying conditions.
Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Cycle Counting: Perform daily cycle counts for raw materials and finished goods to verify inventory accuracy.
- Plant Walkaround and Silo Checks: Conduct daily walkarounds of the plant and check silo levels to monitor material conditions and address any issues.
- Material Planning: Participate in daily material planning meetings to coordinate material needs and inventory management.
- Sample Collection: Collect Samples from Silos and railcars for quality control purposes. Request and collect additional samples as needed to support operational requirements.
- Damage Claims: Complete required documentation for any in-transit damage.
- Railcar Management: Request and coordinate railcar movements and drop positions to optimize material flow. Operate rail yard safeguard equipment to ensure safe handling of railcars.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain the rail spurs, silos and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Inventory Management: Conduct daily and weekly inventories of raw materials and finished goods to maintain
- Accurate records. Perform quarterly cycle counts to reconcile inventory levels.
- Receiving Tasks: Assist with daily receiving tasks to ensure timely and accurate processing of incoming materials.
- Safety: Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
- Complete all company-required training.
- Ensure tasks are completed according to the quality standards set by the company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies
- Proficient in mathematical calculations, including percentages.
- Experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to operate a sit-down forklift
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective Communication and teamwork skills
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience in material handling, inventory management, or similar role is preferred .
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Physical Requirements/Work conditions
- Mobility: Ability to bend, stand and stoop consecutively
- Lifting: Capable of lifting to 50 pounds.
- Environmental Tolerance: Must be able to work in various weather conditions and temperatures, Ability to work outside in extreme temperatures. .

Salary : $20 - $26
