JOB SUMMARY
Working in the IT Department is very fast paced as we strive to meet the needs of our customers. The IT
Support Specialist serves as the first level contact for end-user’s technical requests. This position will assist with
general management of IT systems and infrastructure. The IT Support Specialist will be assigned various tasks
and projects such as Microsoft Active Directory configuration, user changes, hardware/software maintenance,
network maintenance, ERP troubleshooting, server support, IT documentation, and other IT related tasks.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides excellent customer service. Communicates with users within SLA objectives via phone, chat, email, and/or the Jira ticketing system to assess the scope of the problem, communicate with the customer and document resolution
- Install and configure end-user computers, software, printers, phones and all other enterprise equipment
- Configure user and computer adds, changes, removals as well as basic DHCP and DNS within Microsoft Active Directory
- Update computers and servers using WSUS
- Monitor and troubleshoot daily server backups
- Analyze hardware, software, and network problems using diagnostic tools and troubleshooting procedures
- Monitor and troubleshoot satellite offices and out of state plant locations
- Assist in planning, evaluation, and implementation of IT infrastructure changes, upgrades, and procedures, including disaster recovery
- Assist Systems and Network Administrators in performing responsibilities related to these positions.
- Continue education in order to advance into one of these roles
- Monitor alerts and logs for system and cyber security issues
- Perform 24x7 on call responsibilities
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with users and team members effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Teams, etc.
- Windows servers (Domains, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
- Basic TCP/IP network and related functions
- Ability to execute daily backup procedures and assist in recovery planning and execution
- Ability to independently troubleshoot general computer, OS, application, and network issues
- Understand basic networking concepts
- Willing to learn advanced skills such as VMware, SAN, PowerShell
- Follows disciplined change management and project management processes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Two years of IT Service Desk experience or associate’s degree required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license for travel between locations
- Minimal travel to satellite offices is required
- Use of steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs required on plant floors
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Carry up to 50 pounds
