The Nursing Supervisor performs nursing duties and makes management decisions following hospital policy procedures and supervises other nursing personnel who are responsible for patient care. The Nursing Supervisor is a proficient nurse who has chosen the management track. This nurse has general knowledge of nursing practice and takes responsibility for the development and nurturing of self. This individual serves as a resource person for nursing and other hospital departments and must be able to set priorities. This position will include accountability for maintaining high standards of patient care throughout the hospital. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care provided in the hospital utilizing the nursing process.   • Georgia Registered Nurse License or Multistate Nursing License
  • Healthcare Provider (CPR)Qualifications
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to convey clear concise understandable instructions to patients, family, and staff. Must be able to understand information to make appropriate and timely decisions.

  • AGE APPROPRIATE CARE : Demonstrates the behavior, skills and knowledge to provide age appropriate care for all ages and populations served to include the : ability to communicate, assess developmental level, physiologic norms, signs and symptoms of neglect, immunization status, and emotional response to stress.
  • EDUCATION AND MENTORING : Assists in provision of education for department staff to include orientation of new employees and ongoing in-service to develop and ensure competency and compliance with standards related to best practice, specialized departmental equipment, procedures, ages specific competencies, medication management and age specific core competencies and staff compliance with annually required education.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Committed to finding solutions to problems rather than blaming others. Demonstrates knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, standards of nursing practice. Participates in required annual hospital wide and nursing continuing education. Accurately evaluates self and establishes goals in self-directed manner. Actively seeks out opportunities for knowledge / skill enhancement within and beyond the practice setting.
  • QUALITY, PI, STANDARDS AND COMPLIANCE : Knowledgeable regarding hospital policy and procedures, regulatory standards, evidence-based practice guidelines (EMTALA, TJC, CMS, Georgia Board of Nursing, quality metrics, etc.) Knowledgeable in the review of data within the electronic record. Assists director and managers in the identification, coordination and Implementation and Monitoring of Unit specific process improvement opportunities which minimize errors, improve patient safety and satisfaction, maximize resource utilization and provide a safe work environment.
  • SUPERVISION OF STAFF : Responsible for assessing staffing requirements for the current and on-coming shifts and assures adequate staffing on all nursing units. Staffs commensurate with patient need and nursing staff education and abilities. Facilitate use of scheduled staff in a manner which facilitates patient flow and efficient use of resources. Provides Leadership in absence of managers or Director of Nursing. Collaborates with Nurse Manager and Director regarding staffing and nursing personnel issues. Assures quality nursing care through rounds and ongoing unit supervision. Role models an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care through interactions with other departments. Coordinates implementation of Disaster Plans. Effectively handles situations in a calm, objective manner and coordinates needed change. Adaptable, flexible, and consistently effective in staffing and managing problems. Challenges and adapts systems to maximize the benefits for patient care. Collaborates with physicians and other disciplines to implement interventions to meet emerging problems. Addresses subtle changes in the patient and assists staff to address through ongoing assessment, prioritization, and interventions.
