Role Summary:
The Direct Access Manager is pivotal in developing and maintaining vendor relationships to ensure optimal pricing, performance, and compliance. This role involves strategic collaboration across various departments, proactive communication, and continuous improvement of vendor management processes. The Direct Access Manager will also support sales strategies, provide excellent customer service, and manage critical vendor-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Relationship Management:
- Develop Direct Access vendor accounts for better pricing and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and manage routine business reviews with critical Direct Access vendors.
- Provide proactive communication and excellent customer service to build and maintain successful relationships.
- Support communication and training of changes in procurement and vendor environments to stakeholders.
- Travel to attend conferences and trade shows as required.
Vendor Performance and Compliance:
- Aggregate and communicate Direct Access vendor data and performance.
- Escalate business-critical issues affecting operations and management to the direct manager.
- Establish and maintain regular vendor governance processes.
- Focus on Direct Access vendor performance to achieve planned business outcomes.
- Serve as the initial point of escalation for vendor communication issues and resolve them effectively.
Team Strategy and Development:
- Create plans for new vendor orientation and team introductions.
- Follow up periodically with team members to seek feedback and ensure completion of agreed actions.
- Foster the growth and skill set of individuals by increasing the team's market knowledge, understanding of margins, pricing, and negotiating.
- Prepare and deliver status reports to management on projects.
- Support sales initiatives to increase year-over-year sales by identifying opportunities and negotiating with customers and vendors.
- Regularly communicate and distribute key performance metrics, dashboards, and reports.
- Collaborate with the Direct to Manufacturer BD team on sales strategies for new accounts and develop current accounts.
Operational Support:
- Analyze multiple vendors to determine the best options for specific products, especially top-moving products.
- Serve as a point of contact for the preparation, negotiation, and execution of contracts and outsourcing-related documents.
- Provide daily support for all Vendor Management Team activities as needed.
Candidate Profile:
Required:
- Proven experience in vendor management, procurement, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
Preferred:
- 2-3 years of experience in supply chain management, vendor management, or a related field.
