Experience in food service preferred.
Example of Duties
- Sets up and replenish serving lines, serves students in food service units, and stocks à la carte snack items.
- Performs food preparation tasks such as sandwich and salad making, cutting and preparing vegetables, and beverage preparation, following written standardized recipes.
- Clean and process fruits and vegetables and prepares various salads, according to standardized recipes.
- Scrapes and sorts dirty dishes, silverware and glassware and operates dishwashing machines.
- Collects and counts lunch money and meal tickets, makes deposits when necessary.
- Handles bookkeeping for student meal tickets.
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work area.
- Sweeps and mops floors in the kitchen area.
- Empties trash into the outside dumpster as needed.
- Assists in food inventory of supplies and à la carte items. and/or operate satellite food service areas that are located in outlying areas of campus are somewhat autonomous.
- Performs food preparation tasks such as salad and sandwich making and beverage preparation, following written standardized recipes.
- Maintains stock levels and submits requisitions to supervisor for replacement items such as condiments or raw ingredients.
- Operates cash registers; receives money from customers and makes correct change
- Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work area which may be located in outlying areas of campus.
- Opens and closes a unit as assigned.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to follow Pima County Food Service regulations.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (from 25 to 40 pounds).
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, reach, and turn while working.
- Ability to run a terminal (cash register).
- Knowledge of food service operations including sanitation standards and food preparation.
- Knowledge of food service equipment, such as steamers, slicers and fryers.
- Ability to multi-task, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
- Any combination of experience, training and/or education approved by the district; and,
- Experience in a food service setting preferred.
