Description :

Tanque Verde USD is seeking an IT Support Specialist. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position.

This person will assists the technology infrastructure within the school environment. Responsibilities include providing technical support, training, and guidance to students, teachers, and staff members. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing IT resources, and ensuring smooth operation of computer systems. The position also assists with the repair or replacement of computer and peripheral equipment in various applications such as Chromebooks, personal computers, and interactive flat panels in classroom, lab, and office applications.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Assess hardware and software malfunctions to determine appropriate actions for maintaining computer and other technological operations.
  • Receive and prioritize incoming requests for assistance via telephone, voicemail, and email from users experiencing problems related to hardware, software, networking, and other computing technologies.
  • Coordinate with IT members to enforce District security access policies and ensure technology meets District standards.
  • Install computer hardware and software applications to provide support to teachers and other school site staff.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Repair District Chromebooks and personal computers to ensure their proper functioning.
  • Implement and maintain web site architecture, programs, and scripts to support web development initiatives.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of hardware and software used in computer labs, libraries, classrooms, and school and district offices, including understanding of various computer components, peripherals, and devices commonly used in educational environments.
  • Troubleshooting of computer equipment and software applications, including proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • General knowledge in a wide variety of multimedia technologies, including familiarity with multimedia software applications and their configurations.
  • Knowledge of web standards and protocols, including usability and accessibility standards.
  • Skill in providing information technology related customer service and training to users with varying levels of technical expertise. Being able to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users; strong customer service skills.
  • Skill in troubleshooting, repairing, configuring, and administering systems in a domain or workgroup environment.
  • Skill in analyzing computer hardware and software problems, including ability to evaluate and assess computer hardware and software malfunctions.
  • Skill in working as part of a team; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively; work cooperatively and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Skill in time management and dealing with multiple priorities; ability to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of computer networks and remote troubleshooting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Qualifications :

  • Three years of hardware / software experience in area of assignment, including one year of experience providing IT customer support services; OR
  • Associate's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Technology or related field AND two years of hardware / software experience in area of assignment including one year of experience providing IT customer support services; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and / or education approved by the Human Resources Manager and the IT Director.
