Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
The Corporate Counsel – Contract Management will manage and implement processes to maintain, draft, review, negotiate and inform about agreements involving the business. In time, this person will be Tarian’s contract expert, relied upon to help the business execute agreements that achieve company goals on fair terms. The Tarian Group provides security-related services to customers in varied environments, including healthcare facilities, commercial environments of numerous types, event locations and at critical infrastructure facilities. These operations are subject to local, state and federal laws and regulations applicable to businesses licensed to provide security services. To achieve agreements that adequately consider the business risks and opportunities, the Corporate Counsel must understand the regulatory and practical environment of security operations. Armed with this knowledge, the Corporate Counsel will work with the General Counsel to continuously improve the business by leveraging lessons learned through the performance of security operations. The Corporate Counsel will work in a dynamic environment that values innovation, initiative and respectful interactions. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active bar admission in at least one state
- Minimum 3 years of law firm experience
- Commitment to treating company employees professionally, fairly and with dignity and respect.
- Ability to communicate clearly and with sound judgment in writing and verbally to individuals of all levels of responsibility both within the company and externally.
Additional Helpful Experience / Skills:
- Broad transactional law firm experience
- Experience interpreting insurance policies and interacting with insurance companies and brokers.
- Aptitude and experience identifying and reducing business risks identified through litigated matters.
- Desire and drive to continuously improve the business through process improvements that reduce risk, save money and enhance the work environment of company employees.
- Self-motivated and in-tune with the urgent timing of business demands.
- Process driven, with ability to manage complex projects, and achieve objectives on time.
- Confident and able to work well and remain calm under pressure.
- A leader, with the desire to always help others as needed, committed to improving the business.
- Ability to develop and present valuable information, in person or virtually, in a concise, interesting and motivating way.
- Successful track record of managing external counsel relationships.
- An understanding of how contract terms impact the business’ financial success.
- Experience drafting company policies.
