What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Cost Accountant position at Tarkett?
Reporting to the Director, Costing & Analysis, with a strong dotted line to the Campus Controller, this position will lead the cost accounting process and provide general accounting support for the Dalton campus. This individual will be in charge of maintaining and improving the standard costing system at 4 plants and ensuring proper budgeting and forecasting of material, labor and overhead costs. This individual will support the monthly closing process, reporting and analysis of plant performance, and help provide timely and accurate value-added information to management. The Senior Cost Accountant will interface with Accounting, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and the Sr. Director of Operations and his leadership staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain and analyze standard costs linked to the annual budget as well as support developing new and revised standard product costs by analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods
- Provide assistance and cooperation with Engineering and Operations to ensure accuracy of production Bills of Material
- Identify plant efficiencies and operational variance trends for improving profitability while working with Plant Leadership on implementing corrective actions
- Prepare detailed analysis on bridging actual financial results to budget and PY financials
- Assist with all month end closing procedures for the Company ensuring compliance with Tarkett Group policies while promoting the adherence of company internal controls and compliance statement requirements
- Assist with preparation of annual budget and perform monthly analysis around variances based on comparative budget to actual results
- Support local performance improvement projects: WCM and other cost saving opportunities
- Support the financial analysis and justifications for capital projects
- Assist in preparing and supporting the monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) review process with Plant Leadership and Other Operational staff
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with management team
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- CPA and/or Master’s level graduate degree a plus
- Proficient in management accounting, cost and inventory accounting and financial analysis
- Analytical and data driven
- Has the ability to multitask in a complex, fast paced environment
- Demonstrates a high customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates business acumen and an innovative problem solver
- Ability to effectively present information to an internal group
- Strong systems aptitude with large ERP’s - SAP & Power BI experience is preferred
